Help ensure a smoothly running church serviceand minister to parishioners in a variety of practical ways. Ushers' duties include greeting & assisting parishioners find seats, assisting people with special needs, collecting the offering, select persons to carry the gifts to the altar, direct parishioners to receive communion, direct the Extraordinary Ministers to those who cannot walk in procession for Communion, passing out literature & bulletins and respond to emergency situations including medical, weather-related, & extraneous disruptions of the Liturgy.
Who can be an Usher: Adults and young teens, men & females. You must be able to arrive to the church well in advance for the liturgy. If an emergency arises, you must keep a level
head and know how to contact local emergency. All Ministries require that any volunteer submit an application with the Diocese of Austin Ethics & Integrity office, pass a background check and be compliant before ministering and throughout the service of the volunteer.
For more information and training sessions for all these ministries please call the parish office 512-398-4649 for contact names and phone numbers.
serve as “first representatives” of Jesus Christ at Mass. They welcome parishioners at the outside of the front door of the church or if needed help handicapped parishioners out of their vehicle and up the ramp before each Mass. Any adult or teen can be a greeter. The only requirement is to greet parishioners with a smile - you are on the "front line," genuinesmile is a gift from God, and you must be able to arrive to the church well in advance for the liturgy.
In the Body of Christ, there exists a wonderful variety of ministries, which are especially evident when we gather at Mass. By virtue of our Baptism in Christ, some of us are called to serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. Extraordinary Ministers at Mass are
laypeople trained to assist the presiding priest and deacons in distributing Holy Communion during Sunday and weekday liturgies. Extraordinary Ministers for the Sick are laypeople sent by the parish to bring the Word of God and the Eucharist to parishioners who are ill,
homebound, in nursing homes, or in local care facilities. This is a ministry of both invitation and challenge, for when Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion distribute from the plate or cup into the outstretched hands of the assembly, they not only invite the assembly
to receive the body and blood of Christ, but they challenge the assembly to become Him as well. Serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is both an honor and a responsibility. Imagine your loved ones or even you not being able to come to Mass and
receive the body of Christ for weeks or a month? This has been our reality since covid. Our parish needs your help desperately. Our Parish needs more people willing to serve in this Ministry and hope you will prayerfully consider this invitation.

Dress Code for Mass- Although the Catholic Church has no real dress code for proper attire when attending Mass, there is an unwritten dress code that demands we are properly dressed out of Respect, Honor, and Reverence for the Real Presence of Our Lord. There are TWO main reasons one should dress modestly and decently for Mass:Out of respect for God. In Order not to be a distraction or stumbling block to our fellow parishioners. It is also a wonderful way to teach our children respect, honor and reverence. Here is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church has to say about dressing properly for Mass: “To prepare for worthy reception of this sacrament, the faithful should observe the fast required in their Church. Bodily demeanor (gestures, clothing) ought to convey the respect, solemnity, and joy of this moment when Christ becomes our guest.” – CCC 1387. Generally, we should be guided by a combination of virtue, common sense, and piety when deciding what to wear to Mass. Ministers including choirs, lectors, and extraordinary ministers should be particularly mindful of how they dress for Mass. They should be examples for our Parish. It is highly disrespectful to administer Holy Communion to the faithful while dressed in something like shorts or spaghetti strap tops. Men/boys should be mindful to remove all headwear before entering the Church
